Research

We're conscious that councils and voluntary sector groups and organisations often need to get to grips with a subject in a short space of time, with limited resources both in terms of time and money.

The requirement is fact-finding plus - not only collecting 'evidence' and data, but offering interpretation and critique as well.

The service can:

  • research/reports on specific areas of national/local policy and strategy
  • create tailored, subject specific resources (e.g. briefings, information packs, strategy documents)
  • advise and support on methodology or action plans for in-house research
  • interpret/analyse data
  • run focus groups; interview; conduct surveys

We suspect that many organisations and groups have not thought about their requirements in 'research' terms, or where they have, have assumed that the costs are prohibitive. There may be more flexibility here than is sometimes assumed. This is not a promise of a costing you can afford, but a commitment to examine with you possibilities.

PLAYLINK has itself required this type of assistance, for instance, in formulating, conducting and reporting on its play procurement survey. We were recommended Sarah Cheverton.

Sarah has a Masters degree in Social Research from the University of Southampton. She is researcher and writer for the Culture Group of Portsmouth City Council and is currently under commission from the Royal Naval Museum on a project on the slave trade, 'Chasing Freedom'.
